In so many years ridding, in this short rides, flats are present, but normally (like +95,7%), it doesn’t occur! And you are so close to the car/home, that you can walk/run back, no problem! Yes, I can get a flat… a technical problem… etc… but thing is, short rides are bellow 2hours, so why I would carry all the stuff, if I can walk back home / car? I’m not a millennial! Tools so easily accessible sounds like an excellent idea, right? I could be wrong, but it has that potential, surely? There wasnt much consistency, and if you give that freedom to MTB manufacturers, you could have fork compression bolt standards that look kinda like the insane amount of rear axle sizes, ones that only cater to certain tools. Fitbikeco for example used (last I checked) a smaller alloy bolt (like an M10 thread) whereas other brands would use a bolt that was the size of the internal diameter of the forks. If you've ever tried to find a compression bolt for a BMX fork that is more than a year or two old, you'll know it's a bit of a minefield, and a lot of companies dont sell them aftermarket, and brands arent always cross compatible. Granted, it's not something youd be replacing all the time unless you have hands like feet. It'd give manufacturers another thing to change every couple of years/months/minutes and if it rounds out, you'll be going to a shop and hoping that they have the right one, as opposed to the star nut which is universal. This calculation, which is called “Days’ Sales of Inventory” or “Days’ Inventory,” can estimate how long it takes to get a return on investment for inventory purchases. In this case, we would estimate that The Home Depot turns its inventory about once every 73 days. Notice this method produces a different inventory turnover ratio. Let’s continue with The Home Depot example, using $14.5 billion in average inventory and approximately $72.7 billion for the cost of goods sold. This typically provides a more accurate view of inventory turnover because it excludes any markup. A second method is to divide the cost of goods sold by the average inventory for the time frame in view. This method is generally a little optimistic since it includes the company’s profit when it takes total sales as its numerator.ĬOGS and average inventory. ![]() Using this method, we would estimate that The Home Depot turns its inventory about once every 48 days. If we wanted to know home many days it takes The Home Depot to turn its inventory once, we could divide the number of days in the year by the inventory turnover ratio we just calculated. Home Depot turns over its inventory about 7.6 times each year. Using this method we could calculate Home Depot’s inventory turnover ratio as 7.6. We can calculate inventory turnover for a single public company (such as The Home Depot) and estimate the average turnover for an entire industry. Sales ÷ Ending Inventoryįor example, for the fiscal year ended January 31, 2020, The Home Depot reported total revenue of $110.2 billion, a cost of revenue (roughly the cost of goods sold) of $72.7 billion, and an inventory balance of $14.5 billion (which I will use as a stand-in for both ending inventory and average inventory), according to Yahoo! Finance. Many investors use a company’s sales and its ending inventory to calculate its inventory turnover ratio. The method you choose depends on which provides a better view of your company’s inventory and sales performance. The calculations produce different results. There are at least a couple of ways to calculate an inventory turnover ratio: (i) total sales divided by ending inventory or (ii) cost of goods sold divided by average inventory. Thus, inventory turnover - and the related inventory turnover ratio - is a powerful key performance indicator. The company with 10 inventory turns should experience better cash flow and more sales. In general, for smaller items, photo frames and other decorative pieces, you’ll only need a shelf of about 150mm deep. This will give you an approximation of the shelf depth you need. Measure the shelf depth and minus 25mm, this figure is the minimum length of your shelf bracket. This is probably the second most common question for shelf brackets, and again it all depends on how deep (edge to wall) your shelves are. How Long Do My Shelf Brackets Need To Be? Although a professional builder might say it’s overkill, sometimes it’s better to be safe than sorry. While this calculation can get tricky, for a simpler guide use a bracket for every stud, if you need to support heavy items (eg., books), and every second stud if you’re using it for lighter items (eg. There are many tables available that can calculate what weight materials can hold before breaking. Are they heavy? Perform a rough guesstimate, or weigh them to get a more accurate figure. Next consider the items that are going to be placed on the shelf. Using these two figures you can calculate how far apart a shelf bracket needs to be from each other before the shelf starts to bow under its own weight, this will be your maximum distance. Predominantly the length of the shelf is most important, followed by the thickness. The amount of shelf brackets you need for good support is usually dependent on a few different things. As the shelf itself will be highly visible and actually become a part of the decor, instead of simply being the presenter of intriguing items. This is especially important if your shelves are not going to support many items. Go through the same process and try to have them match.
